A Love Supreme

Solo Exhibition at Elmhurst Art Center

January 2024 – April 2024

"A Love Supreme" was a solo exhibition that took its name and inspiration its from John Coltrane's jazz album of the same title.

The show explored themes of Black life, relationships to community, creative inspiration and improvisation, and an intrinsic connection to spirituality. Each theme contained within its own room in an homage to the four part of Coltrane’s album

The exhibition had two parts. The main galleries featured sculptural works, original wall art, and furniture pieces.

The companion exhibition, "A Love Supreme: McCormick House Reimagined," took place in the adjoining Mies van der Rohe McCormick House. Co-curated by Teague and Rose Camara, it brought together work from 35 Chicago-based BIPOC designers who responded to the prompt “what is your ‘love supreme’”. Works ranged from photography, to sculptural sound systems, to meditation chairs and more.
